The Centre is busy throughout the week with a range of activities from writing classes, stay and play, to karate, yoga, district nurses leg clinics, army cadets and amateur dramatics. The Centre has hosted great nights for the community including comedy, electro-swing, professional wrestling, indoor "paintballing" - they've all featured at the centre.  The huge dancefloor makes the venue ideal for acts that like to get the audience moving. Check out our "What's On" page to see what's coming up.  For information on the Drop ins or infomration service please see Advice from the Hub
On the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of every month the Centre is transformed into a large indoor market with local meat, fruit and vegetables, bread and cakes and other produce on offer, as well as a huge range of crafts.

Where are we?

Bowling Green Lane, Knighton, Powys, LD7 1DR - in beautiful Welsh border countryside with road and rail access to nearby Shropshire and Herefordshire.

What are we?

Knighton and District Community Centre, to give it its full name - though it is commonly known as The Comm -  is THE HUB for so many community activities as well as being a great venue for parties, weddings, live music, stage productions, exhibitions, meetings and more.
The centre hosts Knighton Library in smart new premises, is a hub for volunteer coordination in the Knighton area, has a community café every Tuesday morning and has regular drop ins for the public to seek advice on housing issues, to meet their local police and more.
Our main hall can hold 300 and has a large stage suitable for drama productions and top class live music shows.  A moveable wall allows the rear third of the hall to be separated to make a separate bar and function room.  Adjoining the main hall are a smaller hall suitable for events involving up to 50 people, the town's library, a casual seating area, kitchen and our "dressing room", which doubles as a classroom and small meeting room.  All, except for the library of course,  are available for hire separately if desired and at very competitive prices.
Knighton and District Community Centre (KDCC) is a charitable incorporated organisation (CIO), which is a form of legal entity designed for non-profit making organisations in the United Kingdom.
KDCC registered as a CIO with the Charity Commission in July 2016 (Charity Number 1167969) but has operated as an unincorporated charity since 1982 under the name Knighton Community Centre.
As a CIO KDCC has the ability to conduct business in its own name, and has limited liability so that its members and trustees will not have to contribute in the event of financial loss.
Any money we generate is re-invested into running the building or activities in line with our constitutional objectivities. Our accounts are independently audited and submitted to the Charity Commission on an annual basis.  The centre is managed entirely by volunteers from the local community for the local community and depends largely on volunteers for many of its functions.
