Back by popular demand! The Little Big Band

11/16/2014

Their Valentine's Night show at the community centre was such a great success that we just had to get them back and December 6th is the date when The Little Big Band return with their blend of swing, big band era classics, songs from shows, film and TV themes and Latin dance tunes, all performed by as big and brassy an ensemble as you are likely to see and hear anywhere.
Based in South Shropshire, the band has been together since 2006 and though they describe themselves as "enthusiastic amateurs", their sound is rock solid and if swing's your thing, you should get your ticket now and you won't be disappointed.
Tickets are on sale at Tower House Gallery and Spar, Knighton, for £7, this price including a supper of home-made soup'n'roll.  If you want to come along with friends, you can reserve a table by phoning 07751221487 or messaging us by following the contact link at the top of this page - ditto if you want us to put aside tickets at the door for collection on the night.  Doors open 7.30pm and there's a bar all night.

Singing is good for you!

It's obvious isn't it? Singing makes you feel good! It raises your spirit! It energises you! Agreed?
It's great news, then, that next Thursday, Nov 13th, at 7.30 in the Reynolds Room, there will be a taster session designed to test out the interest out there in the formation of a Knighton Singing Group.
The session is being run by Charlotte Bulley, who has been running the community choir in Leintwardine since 2006, as well as being a member of the Natural Voice Practitioner Network since 2003. The session is free of charge, though donations would be appreciated to pay for the room.
Charlotte aims to make the experience fun and everything is taught by ear. You don't need to read music, OK? You don't even, as Charlotte says, "need to think you are a 'good singer'" so don't be shy.
Expect all kinds of songs, from blues to gospel, Georgian to African, folk to medieval to pop.
If you want to know more, phone 01547 540603, email charlotte@naturalvoice.net or check out Charlotte's website, www.charlottebulleymusic.co.uk
