Friday February 14th was perhaps the climax of the wettest, stormiest period in history. Not a good day to have scheduled local amateur group the Little Big Band to play a fundraiser crucial for the community centres survival.
In the event, all the ban members made it through the floods and a very enthusiastic crowd packed the hall to welcome them.To all of them the volunteers of the community centre management committee say thank you.A thank you is also due to David Miller, proprietor of the towns community markets ever-popular cafe, who donated potted daffodils to decorate the tables.Committee members worked hard over the days leading up to the gig producing a lovely selection of soups.
While the income from tickets, raffle and bar has still to be worked out, we can say that the night was a great financial success as well as an artistic one.
