Thanks to The Stoned Cherries for a night of lively and entertaining folk music, which had much of the audience up dancing at several points. Thanks to those who bought tickets in the raffle in aid of MSF's work with refugees. And thanks too to those who continue to support live music in Knighton. The bar has proved to be a great little music venue and we'd like to bring in more quality performers to our town but we do need your support. Next up we have Helen Chadwick's Song Theatre on Thursday 25th Feb with Songs for the Way Home. Tickets £10. To reserve tickets (recommended) you should phone Zarine on 01547 520044 . Then on Friday April 1st we have highly-rated Aberystwyth-based folk trio Brenig with songs from the heart of Wales. Tickets £7. More details soon.

Live music coming up in the bar...

On Saturday Feb 13th the Comm bar is the venue for what promises to be a lively night of "original and traditional songs and tunes, with wit, humour and a fruity finish!!" in the company of Shropshire folk rock band The Stoned Cherries. Click on their website here to check them out. Admission is a snip at £5 and doors open 7.30pm. If you want to reserve tickets phone 07751221487 or message this page.

Then in the bar on Thursday Feb 25th there's Helen Chadwick's "Songs for the Way Home", a powerful, funny and touching piece of song theatre characterised by a unique blend of stunning harmony songs, body percussion and witty choreography about the meaning of home. It is inspired by interviews with Helen’s neighbours in her local community of Dalston, East London, where many different cultures co-exist, and tells stories in song around ideas of roots, displacement, and belonging.Helen Chadwick Song Theatre has performed at the Royal Opera House, for Amnesty International’s and Peace Brigades International’s birthday celebrations, as well as international festivals in Europe and Latin America.  The Knighton show will feature a trio version of the original show.
Helen, as founder of the mass choir charity project Sing for Water, has helped raise over £800,000 for water projects at WaterAid, through projects led by choir leaders all over the UK, Europe and Australia, so any profit will go to this charity.
Reviews for Helen Chadwick's work have been nothing less than glowing, with The Guardian discribing her as "an exquisite find", The Independent calling her "that brilliant bard" and the Evening Standard saying her work “pierces the heart".

Tickets are £10 and to reserve tickets (recommended) you should phone Zarine on 01547 520044.  Do it now!
