If you saw Beverly Smith and John Grimm in the Comm bar recently you're probably itching for more authentic American roots music, so you'll want to put Sunday October 26th on your calendar. If you missed it, you missed a treat so don't make the mistake twice.
On the 26th the bar is the venue for a live performance by the Appalachian band whose session on his BBC Radio 2 show was described by Bob Harris as "gorgeous". UK Folk music's bible, fRoots magazine, has judged them to be "First class!" And if you want further convincing, just watch the video taken from a BBC film of the Celtic Connections festival. Admission is just £10 and entrance can be guaranteed by phoning 01544 350407 / 01597 825390 or 01547 820315. Things kick off at 8.00pm and snacks will be available. If you miss out on Furnace Mountain live in Knighton on a Sunday night because Downton Abbey's on the telly then you need to seek medical advice.
