It was recently decided that minutes of the monthly meetings of the management committee should be made available on the website. The January minutes are available as a Word file here. They show just how busy the committee is each month just keeping such a large facility open for the benefit of the local community
Thanks to a £2000 grant and a lot of effort on the part of the centre's management committee, a new room hire option will soon be available for smaller social events, activities and meetings. For years the room was the base for a snooker club but then the club members moved on, interest faded and that corner of the building suffered for a time from a persistently leaking roof so that more recently the room has become a store room - admittedly a very necessary one - for many of our tables, chairs and screens.
Now the snooker tables are gone, the ageing carpet has been replaced by bright new wood-effect flooring, new lighting has been installed and some changes have been made to the entrance from the bar. All that's now needed is a lick of paint and new curtains at the windows and we will be ready to take bookings. The photo below was taken just yesterday and new curtains will soon be hung. Watch this space for more news.
This blog is maintained by Chris Plant on behalf of the Management Committee to bring you all the other bits of Comm news and info that don't quite fit anywhere else.
